His wife Jane Sturtivant is said to have been daughter of Francis Sturtivant of the family of Sturtivant of Carlton in Nottinghamshire, and was probably the daughter by the first marriage of Francis Sturtivant, citizen and grocer of London, whose second wife was Susan Isham, eldest sister of Zaccheus Isham.? This Francis Sturtivant seems to have been fourth son of John Sturtivant of Carlton.?
